Biography

After a road-trip in South America, Bruno Fournier settled in Paris to begin his career as a photographer. He then met one of the big names in advertising, Aaron Jones, who introduced him to San Francisco. Back in Paris, Bruno Fournier worked alongside Michel Comte before publishing his own series of fashion in magazines such as Jalouse, Marie-Claire, Madame Figaro, VS Mag, Icon, Spoon, Flaunt, Surface, Urban and Vogue Gioiello. He is noted for his ability to catch his female models in movement, seemingly breathing life into their clothes. In his personal
work, Bruno Fournier has been exploring even more the movement through three of the themes dear to his photographic writing: power, humour and eroticism. His photography show female nudes brandishing unexpected accessories: hubcaps, hairdryers, ropes, loudspeakers. By clever misappropriation, the models became “Amazons.” He exhibited in particular in Arles and published books of photographs.

He worked with the greatest and for the greatest in France and in America, outdoors and in the studio, in black and white and color. This arboisien of Mesnay, this globetrotter who returns to the Country of Pasteur opens, a few steps away from the bookshop the Hamac, its own photography studio. His idea: give people he desire to be photographed in his studio and bring back an art object that they can hang on the wall. The portraits and family photos are taken only on command. Each photo will be proposed in a aluminium frame, with its white marie-louise (or passe-partout). It will benefit from an exceptional quality due to the format of the negative used when shooting.

The professional states that he is not at all opposed to the digital or colour. In particular, it uses digital colour views for commercial reporting: “I have made a portrait recently of a winemaker and there, the colour was needed”. With thirty years of experience, he comes back with a true photographic, artistic and also a real life project. His goal is to share his passion for photography film in black and white, to give photography lessons to a diverse audience of all ages. It has made several investments in its new premises: installation of a photographic studio with a laboratory printing of the images. Four enlargers will also allow training sessions and discovery of photography in dark room with red light. Shooting film and digital, training and introduction to reporting, portrait, processing of films, prints, contact sheet are on the program.
